This challenge brings funding opportunities for businesses involved in the food production systems area.

The Transforming food production challenge has announced an ambitious target to move agricultural systems to net zero emissions by 2040, by producing food in ways that are more efficient, resilient and sustainable.

A briefing session takes place in Birmingham on 23 October. See details here about entering an expression of interest.

To drive change and meet the target, the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) are investing £90m to create integrated data driven solutions to boost UK primary agricultural productivity. Three funding opportunities will open this autumn for ambitious projects in this sector.

The programme will:

  • accelerate the development and adoption of advanced precision agricultural technologies and solutions
  • reimagine the food systems, produce food in new and novel production systems
  • fuel growth and create high-skilled jobs in the UK.

To kick off the changes, a grant funding of up to £20m is available for future food production systems that transform current modes of production. This competition targets projects that disrupt the traditional land-based models of food production by creating integrated, data-driven solutions to drive agricultural productivity whilst targeting net zero emissions.

This competition is open for registration now.
