The construction industry training board (CITB) is a non departmental government body that have a parliamentary mandate to collect a levy from construction employers to reinvest in training and skills for the construction sector.

To access funding and support from CITB businesses must be registered.  (Plumbers and M&E contractors are excluded) Construction industry employers with a wage bill of £80K or more are required by law to pay a levy.  Small businesses and sole traders with a wage bill of below £80K do not have to pay the levy but can still access support.

CITB also offer 2 funding schemes in addition to grants that are open for applications periodically throughout the year.

Flexible Funding – for short projects lasting up to 18 months

Structured Funding – for longer projects lasting 18 months to 5 years

There are 3 funding options to choose from depending on the project type:

Skills and training Funding for SMEs

Applications for this funding are now open and will remain open until 20 November 2017. Skills and training funding falls under our flexible fund, and supports small and micro employers (with up to 99 employees) with the delivery of training and upskilling. Funding available up to £10,000.
