There are a number of locally and nationally available grants programmes that can support your business growth.

 

LOCAL GRANTS

Architectural Feature Lighting Scheme – Leicester City: Leicester City Council are offering grants of up to £30,000, to owners and occupiers of Leicester buildings of architectural merit, who wish to install architectural feature lighting to improve our city.

Business Security Grant Scheme – Leicester City: small businesses can apply for funding of up to 50% of the total purchase price of security measures, up to a maximum grant of £1,500 per application.

Discretionary Rate Relief Grants: Grants up to £150000 over 3 years to support fast-growing businesses in the city to help them expand to larger premises and to help attract inward investment.

Enterprising Town Centres: will target grant funding between £500 and £25,000 to small independent businesses within our town centres of Ashby, Castle Donington, Coalville, Ibstock, Kegworth and Measham.

Engineering Student Placement Grant: Loughborough University has been chosen by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers to pilot a new Placement scheme for Engineering students who are undertaking I MechE accredited degree courses.

Harborough District Apprenticeship Grants: Employers with less than 150 employees can apply for an additional grant of up to £750.00 when taking on a new apprentice from Harborough District.

Key Fund for Social & Community Businesses: offering grants, loans and equity from £5,000 to £150,000 to organisations in the East Midlands who have social and community aims and have been refused funding from elsewhere.

LLEP Open Call: The LLEP has been granted up to £10m over the next two years to support projects to drive productivity and help grow the Leicester and Leicestershire economy.  There are 3 grant funds available.

Shop front improvement grant: Leicester City Council are offering grants of up to £5,000 to encourage independent retail businesses to improve their shop fronts. Businesses must match 50 per cent of the grant offered.

Sustainable Travel Grants – Leicester & Leicestershire: Businesses can apply for funding of up to 50% of the project costs up to a maximum of £5,000.

 

LOCAL EUROPEAN GRANTS – European Structural Investment Fund (ESIF 2014-2020)

Please Note: ESIF grants eligibility criteria means businesses must be trading already on a business to business basis (Not business to consumer), must employ less than 250 employees, have a turnover not exceeding 50m Euros, not be more than 25% owned by another company and be based in Leicester or Leicestershire.  Some sector exclusions also apply.

Business support schemes and grant funding under this programme include:

Collaborate: Growing Business Together: Grants from £5,000 up to £25,000 providing 33% towards the cost of capital projects (e.g. new machinery, tools, premises improvement or expansion, computer hardware). Sectors supported include: food and drink manufacturing, logistics and distribution, professional and financial services, textile manufacturing, engineering and advanced manufacturing, creative and low carbon. Must be an existing business in Leicester/Leicestershire, trade business-to-business and have less than 250 employees. Collaborate also offers 12 hours of free business support and sector-specific workshops.

Countryside Productivity Scheme: provides funding for projects in England which improve productivity in the farming and forestry sectors and help create jobs and growth in the rural economy. Minimum grant request is £35,000 at 40% intervention rate towards the total project cost.

Digital Growth Programme: Technology Grant Fund offering from £2,000 to £16,000 at 40% intervention rate towards the total project cost and support for businesses in the effective use of digital technology solutions. 

Exploring Enterprises: Fully funded support for 18-30 year olds who want to explore setting up their own business. Support includes workshops, one-to-one support, a £250 market test grant and access to low interest start up loans up to £5000.

Grant for Enterprise: Grant funding of between £1,000 and £2,500 at an intervention rate of 25%. Grants can be used to purchase equipment or consultancy services.

Grant for New Business: Grant funding of between £1,000 and £2,500 at an intervention rate of 25% specifically for new businesses. Grants can be used to purchase equipment or consultancy services.

Green BELLE: Provides £1,000 up to £10,000 grant funding at 50% intervention towards the total project cost and support for energy efficiency improvements.

International Trade Grants: provide grants from £1000 – £1250 at 50% intervention to support SME’s to overcome the barriers to trading internationally by providing match funding for internationalisation tools.

Leicester Innovation Hub: Innovation vouchers up to £4,000 are available to use with the University of Leicester for businesses interested in developing new products, services and processes.

Medilink soLSTICE (Leics): Smart Life Science Technology Innovation & Commercialisation Enabler offers high quality innovation support to businesses in or transitioning to the life sciences sector.  Minimum £1,000 up to £20,000 grant funding is available at 30% intervention towards total project costs.  Expertise and connection to networks will be available through this programme.

Productivity And Capability Enhancement (PACE): The project offers capital grant funding up to £20,000 and revenue grant funding up to £5,000, providing 38% towards project costs.  The funding will assist SMEs to increase their capabilities, productivity and competitiveness and implement new products, processes and service improvements.

Smart Innovation & Network Growth (SING): Support for SME’s to work with research institutes and accelerate the development and implementation of existing and new products, processes and services. Capital grant funding and revenue grant funding providing 43% towards project costs.

RURAL GRANTS

East Leicestershire LEADER Grants of £7.5K to £75K for East Leicestershire rural businesses who are developing a thriving short-stay destination for people interested in: fine food and drink, culture and heritage, field and outdoor pursuits or are a home-based business or micro enterprise with confidence to grow.

LLEP Rural Growth Programme – Grants of £35K to £140K offering up to 40% of project costs for rural tourism infrastructure and food & drink processing.

Village Shop Grant Scheme – Grants up to £3,000 to enhance existing shops and develop new shops selling essential fresh produce

North Warwickshire, Hinckley & Bosworth LEADER – Grants of £2.5K to £50K for local businesses, groups or organisations to help them carry out projects which create jobs, help businesses to grow and which benefit the rural economy. 

Prince’s Countryside Fund – provides more than £1m in grants each year to projects across the UK. Grants of up to £50,000 are available for innovative projects that will provide a lasting legacy to the individuals and communities they seek to benefit.

 

NATIONAL GRANTS

Architectural Heritage Fund: Grants up to £25,000 are available for any work that is essential for taking a project forward towards the goal of revitalising an historic building

Discover England Fund: Grant funding available up to £250K for projects that drive inbound tourist visits and expenditure through delivering bookable tourism products, in response to market opportunities and consumer needs.

Electric Vehicle Grants – businesses can apply for up to £4,500 towards the cost of an electric car and up to £8,000 towards the cost of an electric van (max weight 3.5 tons)

Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Fleet Support Scheme:  £2 million funding competition for private and public sector fleets to buy or lease hydrogen fuel cell cars and vans.

Fit For Nuclear: Grants up to £10,000 match funding to help manufacturing companies in England get ready to bid for work in the civil nuclear supply chain.

Heritage Lottery Fund: a range of funding grants from £3,000 to £5m to support not for profit organisations with heritage projects across the UK

Horizon 2020: A EU grant programme for collaborative research and innovation projects between different EU countries

Innovate UK: A national programme of grant funding competitions to support R&D and innovation in small businesses

Seraphim Capital – Space Tech FundSeraphim Capital has launched the world’s largest ever, early-stage, space-sector venture fund.

Textile and Fashion Children’s Trust:  gives financial support to families who work or recently worked in the UK fashion and textile industry. Grants start at £250 and can provide practical help during a tough financial spot.

The Carbon Trust Green Business Fund: offering funded energy assessments to SME’s to help them identify energy saving opportunities. A grant fund is also available offering 15% or up to £10,000 towards the cost of buying energy saving equipment.

The Environment Now: is an exciting new opportunity from O2’s Think Big that will fund 17-24 years old with up to £10,000 to create their unique digital ideas to help the environment, such as improving energy efficiency, reducing waste, or recycling.

World of Opportunity Grants Programme: Heathrow is offering 20 SMEs the chance to each win a grant of £2,000 to fund trade missions to help them reach new markets.
