There are a number of locally and nationally available grants programmes that can support your business to grow.

 

LOCAL GRANTS

Business Security Grant Scheme – Leicester City: small businesses can apply for funding of up to 50% of the total purchase price of security measures, up to a maximum grant of £1,500 per application.

Collaborate: Growing Business Together: A comprehensive business growth programme for Leicester and Leicestershire.  This business support programme offers one-to-one support, events, workshops and grants up to £25,000 providing 33% towards the cost of capital projects.

Discretionary Rate Relief Grants: Grants up to £150000 over 3 years to support fast-growing businesses in the city to help them expand to larger premises and to help attract inward investment.

Digital Business Growth Programme: Grant Founding and support businesses in the effective use of digital technology solutions. 

Engineering Student Placement Grant: Loughborough University has been chosen by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers to pilot a new Placement scheme for Engineering students who are undertaking I MechE accredited degree courses.

Grant for Enterprise: Grant funding of between £1,000 and £2,500 at an intervention rate of 25%. Grants can be used to purchase equipment or consultancy services.

Green BELLE: Provides up to £10,000 grant funding  and support for energy efficiency improvements.

Harborough District Apprenticeship Grants: Employers with less than 150 employees can apply for an additional grant of up to £750.00 when taking on a new apprentice from Harborough District.

Key Fund for Social & Community Businesses: offering grants, loans and equity from £5,000 to £150,000 to organisations in the East Midlands who have social and community aims and have been refused funding from elsewhere.

Medilink soLSTICE (Leics): Smart Life Science Technology Innovation & Commercialisation Enabler offers high quality innovation support to businesses in or transitioning to the life sciences sector.  Minimum £1,000 up to £10,000 grant funding is available at 30% intervention towards project costs.  Expertise and connection to networks will be available through this programme.

Productivity And Capability Enhancement (PACE): The project will use ERDF funding to assist SMEs to increase their capabilities, productivity and competitiveness and take calculated risks in implementing new products, processes and service improvements.

Seraphim Capital – Space Tech FundSeraphim Capital has launched the world’s largest ever, early-stage, space-sector venture fund.

Shepshed Shop Front Improvement Grants:  Landords, retailers and businesses in Shepshed town centre can apply for up to £3000 at 50% match funding to enhance the appearance of their premises.

Smart Innovation & Network Growth (SING): Fully funded support and 43% match grant funding is available to innovative businesses that want to develop new products, processes and services

Technology Grant Fund:  Grants are available for eligible businesses who are introducing and developing new systems and software to improve business performance.

 

RURAL GRANTS

EPI_AGRI Grants – Innovation for farmers and foresters – Grants of £5K to £150K offering up to 100% towards project costs and can be used in conjuction with other Rural Payments Agency funds

LLEP Rural Growth Programme – Grants of £35K to £140K offering up to 40% of project costs for tourism, food & drink manufacturing, rural workspace and farm diversification

Village Shop Grant Scheme – Grants up to £3,000 to enhance existing shops and develop new shops selling essential fresh produce

North Warwickshire, Hinckley & Bosworth LEADER – Grants of £2.5K to £35K for local businesses, groups or organisations to help them carry out projects which create jobs, help businesses to grow and which benefit the rural economy. 

Prince’s Countryside Fund – provides more than £1m in grants each year to projects across the UK. Grants of up to £50,000 are available for innovative projects that will provide a lasting legacy to the individuals and communities they seek to benefit.

East Leicestershire LEADER Grants of £2.5K to £35K for East Leicestershire rural businesses who are developing a thriving short-stay destination for people interested in: fine food and drink, culture and heritage, field and outdoor pursuits or are a home-based business or micro enterprise with confidence to grow

 

 

NATIONAL GRANTS

Architectural Heritage Fund: Grants up to £25,000 are available for any work that is essential for taking a project forward towards the goal of revitalising an historic building

Discover England Fund: Grant funding available up to £250K for projects that drive inbound tourist visits and expenditure through delivering bookable tourism products, in response to market opportunities and consumer needs.

Electric Vehicle Grants – businesses can apply for up to £4,500 towards the cost of an electric car and up to £8,000 towards the cost of an electric van (max weight 3.5 tons)

Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Fleet Support Scheme:  £2 million funding competition for private and public sector fleets to buy or lease hydrogen fuel cell cars and vans.

Fit For Nuclear: Grants up to £10,000 match funding to help manufacturing companies in England get ready to bid for work in the civil nuclear supply chain.

Heritage Lottery Fund: a range of funding grants from £3,000 to £5m to support not for profit organisations with heritage projects across the UK

Horizon 2020: A EU grant programme for collaborative research and innovation projects between different EU countries

Innovate UK: A national programme of grant funding competitions to support R&D and innovation in small businesses

Tees Valley Business Support Grants: supports all supply chain companies nationwide affected by the closure of SSI Steelworks in Redcar.  The grant fund supports 50% of a project cost up to a maximum of 200,000 euros (approx £140,000).  Minimum grants are £10k.

Textile and Fashion Children’s Trust:  gives financial support to families who work or recently worked in the UK fashion and textile industry. Grants start at £250 and can provide practical help during a tough financial spot.

The Carbon Trust Green Business Fund: offering funded energy assessments to SME’s to help them identify energy saving opportunities. A grant fund is also available offering 15% or up to £10,000 towards the cost of buying energy saving equipment.

 

BUSINESS GRANTS – European Structural Investment Fund (ESIF 2014-2020)

This local growth programme will bring £111m of European funding to Leicester and Leicestershire.  There are a number of key goals to deliver through the ESIF programme including:

  • generating over 2000 new jobs
  • linking higher and further education with private sector to support over 6000 businesses
  • helping 1,000 new business starts, improve survival rates and support business growth
  • provide skills development and employability opportunities for over 31,000 people
