Security Grant

The Leicester Business Security Grant Scheme provides funding for the purchase of security measures by small and medium sized businesses in the City of Leicester.

Businesses are invited to apply for funding of up to 50% of the total purchase price of security measures, up to a maximum grant of £1,500 per application.

Aims of the Security Grant Scheme:

  • To reduce crime and anti-social behaviour against Leicester businesses through the installation of security equipment, e.g. intruder alarms, grills, locks, shutters, CCTV, lighting etc.
  • To enable businesses to work together to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour
  • To support particularly vulnerable businesses, eg. those in rural and minority communities where crime is a particular problem
  • To safeguard staff and customers
  • To combat cyber crime against Leicester businesses

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this grant scheme, businesses must:

  • be located in the City of Leicester, ie. those who pay business rates to Leicester City Council?
  • have no more than 3 outlets?
  • have a total of fewer than 30 staff across all outlets?
  • have a balance sheet of no more than £3.26m
  • have an annual turnover of less than £6.5m?
  • be compliant with all current requirements of HMRC, Companies House and/or other relevant regulator?
  • have NO convictions for age restricted sales offences
  • have secured (or applied for) all relevant permissions (eg. Planning, Landlord permission) to complete the proposed works?

Priority will be given to those businesses who have been the victim of crime in the previous 12 month or who are located in priority areas.
