Loughborough University has been chosen by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers to pilot a new Placement scheme for Engineering students who are undertaking I MechE accredited degree courses.

Engineering companies with less than 250 employees, who have not previously taken on a placement student can benefit from the support of £2000* to participate in this scheme.

A placement student can add value to an organisation by taking on challenging responsibilities and fixed term projects which directly impact the success of the business, and might not otherwise be possible without their input. This can save money, time and effort in recruitment and add to the ‘talent pipeline.’

Placements last for a minimum of 45 weeks and students will spend a year out of study working for an organisation as a full-time member of staff, before returning to university for their final year.

If you would like to find out a little more about this scheme please contact Sophie Kanabar on 01509 222099 or email s.s.kanabar@lboro.ac.uk

*£2000 is a grant towards the cost of taking on a placement student and is payable to an Small to medium sized business with less than 250 employees who has not previously taken on a placement student.
