soLSTICE – Smart Life Sciences Technology Innovation & Commercialisation Enabler

Part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), SoLSTICE will deliver a range of activities to support innovation in SMEs in Leicester and Leicestershire in the life science sector, including advisory support, signposting and grant funding.

Up to 30% of project costs covered – minimum £1,000 to a maximum of £20,000 grant may be available to eligible companies.

High quality innovation support to businesses already in, or transitioning into the Life Sciences sector
Advisory support, signposting and grant funding
Opportunity to attend Special Interest Groups in an innovative environment, exchange ideas and stimulate engagement of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) alongside academia, clinicians and businesses

ABOUT THE PROJECT:
The aims of the project are focused on improving the economic performance of the Life Sciences sector within the locality of LLEP, by enabling SMEs to increase their competitive advantage through innovation and stimulating interaction between business, research entities and the NHS.

HOW:
By providing a mixture of access to high value cutting edge Life Science sector specific expertise; cross-sectoral expertise from universities; grant funding; and networking opportunities. The total cost of the project is £1,000,000 of which £500,000 is of ERDF value.

RESULT:
This will enable established SMEs to flourish and grow by introducing new products and services that benefit from: innovations, identified clinical needs and incorporation or utilisation of cutting-edge technologies. New jobs will be created and new businesses will be established. The project’s ultimate success will be measured by the degree to which innovation is embedded in business.
