Village Shop Grant

It’s a tough time to be a rural retailer in the UK. Aggressive tactics from large supermarkets, changes in the way people shop, compounded by a perceived drop in disposable income from UK consumers. But there are also great opportunities to develop valued services at the heart of communities.

Leicestershire Rural Partnership has recognised this and provides grant funding to help protect, support and grow this vital sector of our community.

Funded by Leicestershire County Council, the Village Shop Grant scheme offers grants of up to £3,000 to enhance Post Offices and village shops selling essential fresh produce and to develop new shops and services including community shops.

Grant guidance notes and application forms are available from the website and it is important to read all the guidance and check eligibility before completing an application form.
