The aim of the Discover England Fund is to drive inbound tourist visits and expenditure through delivering bookable tourism products, in response to market opportunities and consumer needs.
The three-year fund aims to ensure that England stays competitive in the rapidly growing global tourism industry, by offering good quality English tourism products.

In Year one, the fund will focus on:

  • Small-scale quick-win projects and pilots that meet customer demand and test new products or new ways of joining up and distributing existing product.
  • Research to build understanding of customers, markets and product gaps.
  • Seed funding to build bids for years two and three.

£40 million of funding is available through the Discover England Fund over the three-year period 2016-19. Year one projects can apply for up to £250,000 of revenue funding. (Small amounts of capital investment will be considered, ie technology.) Exceptional projects that meet the criteria and can make a clear case for higher levels of funding will be considered.
