my community

The Community Economic Development (CED) programme is a new initiative designed for local community groups and organisations who want to take a lead in shaping their economies for the benefit of local communities.

If you belong to a community that wants to work towards seeing real economic change in your area – whether this is in food, housing, finance, energy or any other local economic opportunities – then the CED programme will set you on the right path.

The programme provides specialist support, advice and grant funding to help residents, local businesses and public sector organisations to work together to develop the best ideas to strengthen the local economy.

Whether that’s working on a strategy to promote local spending, exploring the possibility of developing a rural broadband co-operative, or working with key organisations to promote community-led housing, this programme is for passionate people who are committed to working together on a local economic plan that can deliver real local benefits.

Awards for all

Awards for All England is a Big Lottery Fund that provides a grant scheme funding small, local community-based projects in the UK.

The scheme funds projects which address the issues, needs and aspirations of local communities and people. It will fund a wide range of community projects aimed at developing skills, improving health, revitalising the local environment and enabling people to become more active citizens.

The fund will support both Capital and Revenue projects and applications are invited from Voluntary and Community groups (registered and unregistered charities,  co-operatives,  friendly societies,  industrial and provident societies,  not-for-profit companies,  not-for-profit unincorporated associations), schools, health organisations and parish and town councils can all apply.

The fund is available to support projects that will benefit local communities and make a difference to the lives of those most in need.

The scheme offers grants of between £300 and £10,000.

power to change

An independent charitable trust set up in January 2015 to grow community business across England over the next 10 years.

They support people to take action to address local challenges, enabling them to control vital assets and services that might otherwise disappear, or start new businesses themselves in response to local needs.

At the heart of their vision is the devolution of power to local communities. Putting business in community hands makes places better.

They offer a whole range of business support to help a community start, grow and lead a business and a range of funding including grants and share options to set the business up.

You can apply to the Community Business Fund for grants of £50,000 to £300,000

Further information on the whole package of support and funding available can be found on the website at www.thepowertochange.org.uk
